About Dr Sundar
Dr Sundar is an Australian-trained paediatric and adult congenital cardiologist. He specialises in the management of children with inherited or acquired simple and complex congenital cardiac conditions. He also specialises in the management of adults with congenital heart disease, inherited aortopathies/cardiac conditions and maternal cardiology.
Dr Sundar completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Melbourne, followed by general Paediatric training in Melbourne and Sydney. Subsequently, he completed extensive general Paediatric Cardiology training in Sydney and Queensland. He then undertook post-fellowship training in Adult Congenital Heart Disease, including in the management of patients with inherited cardiac conditions and maternal cardiology, at the Bristol Heart Institute (UK). This was followed by training in cross-sectional imaging (Cardiac MRI and CT) at the Evelina London Children's Hospital (UK). He has worked as a consultant in Paediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiology across cardiac centres in New Zealand, Sydney and Perth.
Dr Sundar has co-authored multiple articles that have been published in international journals and has presented his research at multiple international conferences in Australia and Europe. He was awarded a CSANZ travelling fellowship and was a finalist for the Paediatrics and Congenital prize.
Dr Sundar enjoys educating not just medical professionals, but also his patients and their parents/carers about all aspects of cardiology.
Dr Sundar brings his extensive training and knowledge to deliver holistic, patient-centred care to the children, adolescents and adults with heart disease that he looks after.
Outside of medicine, Dr Sundar is a self-confessed cricket tragic, an amateur photographer and a beginner Golfer. He enjoys spending time with his cavoodles, Hugo and Hally, and watching the many operas that his very talented partner sings in.
